Broadband Connectivity—Anywhere at Sea

Inmarsat is a British satellite telecommunications company that offers telephony and data services to users worldwide. It uses portable or mobile terminals to communicate to ground stations through eleven geostationary telecommunications satellites.

Our FleetBroadband service provides cost-effective voice and data through a compact antenna. We maintain over 99.9% network availability.

Thousands of vessels of all sizes and in all maritime sectors trust in FleetBroadband for operational communications, such as:

  • Email
  • Phone
  • Internet access for apps (e.g., for plotting the most fuel-efficient route)
  • Video links (e.g., to diagnose mechanical faults remotely)
  • Access news, social media, and entertainment

Inmarsat’s network also provides communications services to governments, aid agencies, media outlets, and businesses for work in remote regions or where there is no reliable terrestrial network. FleetBroadband delivers safety services to non-SOLAS vessels so that in an emergency, vessels can immediately get through to a Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center by pressing the distress button on the terminal, or dialing 505—free of charge.

Your broadband data issues—SOLVED

Services include traditional voice calls, low-level data tracking systems, high-speed Internet and other data services, distress and safety services, and mobile Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) services, which are used by the media for live reporting on world events via videophone.

We also offer an IP technology that features an always-on capability. Users are charged only for the amount of data they send and receive, rather than the length of time they are connected. This applies specifically to BGAN and MPDS.

Inmarsat’s most recent series of satellites, known as the “I-4” satellites, were the largest commercial telecommunications satellites ever launched. Each satellite is equipped with a global beam, nineteen regional spot beams, and over 200 narrow spot beams.

Tototheo Maritime proudly offers Inmarsat’s proven maritime satellite service, FleetBroadband, for dependable, seamless voice and broadband data coverage across the world’s oceans.
