Tototheo Global, a leading provider of advanced connectivity and technology solutions for the maritime, enterprise and government sectors, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Heritage Private School and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) to launch a new educational pilot in Cyprus focused on robotics, satellite connectivity, renewable energy and applied science.

The initiative aims to introduce students to real-world technology environments through hands-on engagement with automation, connected systems and scientific experimentation. As industries become increasingly data-driven and technology-enabled, the programme reflects a broader effort to strengthen links between education, research and practical technological application.

At the centre of the pilot is the deployment of FarmBot robotics systems, enabling students to explore coding, automation, plant science and data analysis through interactive experimentation. The systems will operate using satellite connectivity enabled by Starlink, introducing students to real-world communications infrastructure and connected technologies. Solar panels and battery storage will support energy-independent operation, while sensors and data logging tools will allow students to conduct structured plant growth experiments using AI and analytics.

Tototheo Global will additionally sponsor the Starlink Mini equipment and connectivity services, which will be used as part of the pilot, providing a portable satellite connectivity solution that can support a range of educational activities across different locations, extending connectivity beyond the project’s fixed installations.

The first FarmBot deployment was enabled  through Tototheo Global and the initiative expands the company’s engagement with the education and research ecosystem in Cyprus, reflecting its broader commitment to supporting applied technology and STEM education initiatives.

CUT will contribute academic mentorship and scientific guidance across areas including plant health, remote sensing and microbiology, helping ensure the programme is structured, measurable and supported by academic research. Two FarmBot deployments are planned during the pilot phase: one at The Heritage Private School in Limassol and one in Kambos village.

Commenting on the collaboration, Socrates Theodossiou, co-CEO of Tototheo Global, said: “This initiative is not a standalone action, but the starting point of a broader framework connecting AI, robotics, advanced connectivity and sustainable energy. The objective is to create an environment where technology, learning and innovation can interact in a practical and meaningful way.”

Dr Kypros Kouris, Director of The Heritage Private School, said: “At Heritage, we are committed to giving students opportunities that connect learning with real-world application. This collaboration brings advanced technologies into the educational experience in a way that is practical, inspiring and aligned with the skills young people will need in the years ahead.”

Prof. Panagiotis Zaphiris, Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology, added: “This pilot creates a meaningful bridge between education, research and applied innovation. Through our participation, we aim to support a structured learning experience with academic depth, while also exploring the broader scientific and educational value such a model can generate.”

By combining connectivity, robotics, AI, renewable energy and academic collaboration within an educational setting, the initiative aims to create a practical and forward-looking environment with the potential to evolve and scale over time.
